Everyone does everything as quickly as possible. The highways at 300 km/h are an exemple of that. In the real life, we try to do everything as quickly as possible, but the highways are not at 300 km/h.

In the book, they minimize the war. It's normal for them. In real life, there is war in Afghanistan, in Pakistan, etc. and sometime, we act like we don't care.

In the book, Mildred's friends thinks that everything happens only to the other people. In real life, we think the same thing until it happens to us.
